Nurse Internship Program
Midland Memorial Hospital's Nurse Internship Program will help you build the foundation for your professional nursing journey. Through Internship experiences, you will be given an opportunity to gain comfort in the acute care practice environment. The program is designed to provide you with a flexible schedule as you balance nursing school, work, and your personal life.
Simulation-based learning experiences enhance your knowledge and skills. Participation in these activities will prepare you for a successful transition to practice through our ANCC Accredited Nurse Residency Program. During the Internship, you will have an opportunity to loop through all clinical
areas. Nurse Interns will have an opportunity to participate in a fun and innovative unit-selection process before beginning the last semester of the nursing program.

Students that have been accepted into an accredited nursing program are eligible to apply for the Internship. Ideally, candidates begin the Internship as they enter the nursing program. We do accept candidates in all semesters of the program, though most benefit is gained when joining in the first semester.
The Internship has flexible hours to accommodate your busy nursing school schedule! Interns have self-scheduling and are required to work a minimum of 8 hours per week. These hours can be completed all at once or in two 4-hour increments. In the traditional Internship path, simulation days will be completed on pre-scheduled days that are planned around the school calendar.
Nurse Interns are provided a roadmap that includes rotations throughout the hospital. As you progress through the Internship, your focus will narrow to the units you are likely to work as a Registered Nurse upon graduation.
We do not have a deadline to apply, though we encourage you to apply as early as possible. Most Interns that wait to begin in later semesters voice they wish they had begun in their first semester.

Nurse Residency Program
Midland Memorial Hospital's RN Residency consists of 25 percent classroom instruction and 75 percent hands-on training at the bedside. It features instructor-led courses on current and emerging clinical guidelines and standards including clinical preceptors providing personalized bedside training, mentors offering personal support and career development guidance and debriefing sessions creating a forum for exchange among residents. The Residency also uses state-of-the-art web-based technology to efficiently execute the program.

New graduate RNs and LVNs or RNs and LVNs with less than 6 months experience are eligible to apply for the Nurse Residency Program. Others will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
You must be signed up to take the NCLEX within 30 days of employment. You must also have a GN license from the BON.
We offer multiple Residency Programs per year that start at the beginning of the month in January, June, August and October. Opportunities are posted three months prior to the start of the Residency.
The Nurse Residency Program is a one-year long program that requires a full-time commitment. Time off is reviewed and considered by the director of the units in which you are hired into. Time off during the core portion of the program is granted as an emergency basis during the program. The program has different phases, during Phase 1 the schedule is Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, during the remaining phases the shifts can vary, from an 8-hour shift to a 12-hour shift.
Nurse Residency Program residents can be placed in any units with openings. Limited spaces may exist in specialty areas, such as Labor & Delivery, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Units.
Opportunities are posted three months prior to the start of the Residency. The deadline for submission is at least one month before the start of the cohort.
